Set the tone with a welcome drink

If anything says welcome in a warm Caribbean beach wedding is a beautiful looking welcome drink to set up the tone for the evening.

Pamper your guests after the ceremony with an original signature drink that is fresh and appealing, make it unique by using your wedding colors in combination with fruits and local ingredients.

Give it a twist by serving it in a different type of glass that would add up to the wedding concept, this way you will set the tone for a unique event that your guests will remember by, the little details can make a big difference.

Ask your Catering manager to work with you and come up with original ideas for flavours, colors and presentation, then give your drink the attention by adding little highlights to the décor.

Here are some tips to consider whilst creating your signature drink:

il_fullxfull.766750328_a347

-Think about making it soft enough for all your guests to refresh, hard drinks are more soothing when paired with dinner or later in the evening

-Get inspired ny your wedding colors and theme to incorporate a personal element that your guests will identify as unique, for instance if you love a vintage style and are creating a vintage atmosphere serve a drink that will evoke that time period

-Work with what you have on location, if you are having a destination wedding in a Caribbean beach think of exotic fruits, flavors and tropical plants for décor

-Think about your favorite drink and adapt it for your wedding, if everyone knows you love beer, ask your venue or wedding planner to serve a special beer with personalized bottle tags

-Get an original flavour from the place, don’t be afraid to try something new and exciting that is still elegant and friendly

Happy Wedding Planning!

Indy & Frank’s wedding

September was a busy month for weddings in Cancun, between the Bridal Show and the local wedding season, we were very glad to have a full workload for a couple of months.

I am very happy to share a few images and tips form Indy and Frank’s wedding.

entrada indy2

This lovely couple met and found love at first sight, ever since they started dating they have been together building a wonderful and playful family. They were legally married 10 years ago with many odds to face.

Now that their son is part of their lives, they decided to celebrate the holy matrimony in the Catholic Tradition bringing their union to a new sense of love, blessing and prosperity.

It was a very intimate wedding full of people that know their story and that truly share their love and appreciation for the couple.

The color palette featured chocolate, coral and Ivory, the bride’s bouquet was made of carnations i different tones of pink and coral and ornamented with crystals.

ramo claveles copiaThe reception was held at a private Beach Club in Cancun and in spite of a very heavy rain, the wedding celebration went on full of life, fun and love.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of a video telling the story of the couple as told by their closest friends and family.

They also shared a funny Harlem Shake dance with their bridal party surprising everyone in the middle of their first dance.

Congratulations for Indy and Frank, and thank you for letting us be a part of this celebration and for sharing with us this new stage in your lives!

The New Cocktail for Mexican Weddings

Destination Weddings in Mexico are lovely because we have all of the mexican colors, flavors and traditions to incorporate elements and set the mood for a unique wedding.

For many years the Margarita prepared with Tequila has been the representative cocktail of a mexican destination wedding. Now the time to innovate and get creative has come and we discover a new rising cocktail to give an amazing first impression at your reception.

We are talking about the “Paloma” it’s a less dense cocktail than the margarita and it gives you plenty of room to play and create your own signature cocktail. You can prepare it with Tequila or Mezcal (trendiest mexican liquor at the moment).

Here is the recipe to make a rocking Paloma:

Pour some kosher salt on a plate. Rub half of rim of a highball glass with a grapefruit wedge; dip rim of glass in salt. Combine 1/4 cup fresh grapefruit juice, 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, and 1 teaspoon sugar in glass; stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in 1/4 cup mescal or tequila, add ice, and top off with 1/4 cup club soda. Garnish with grapefruit wedge.

Experiment with presentation, change the glasses and ornaments to make it your own.

Ask your bar tender to help you out and feature it in your menu as the welcome drink, for a wedding in Mexico, specially in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum or Yucatan, your guests will be delighted with it’s freshness.

Brides of June

We are now in the middle of June, a peak for wedding season and there’s a lot to do this year.

June is a popular month to get married in, mainly because of the nice weather and availiability for people to travel but this tradition goes way back.

The month -June-  is named after the roman goddess Juno, she was the goddess of women, particularly married women. Serving as a guardian to women she oversaw all aspects of a woman’s life, childbirth, and marriage being the primary areas of concern.

In roman belief getting married in June would consequently bring good fortune and would be a symbol of the perfect season to concieve a child.

It also has to do with nature, because there is a wide variety of flowers during this time of the year.
